KALMO

KALMO is the musical project in which Bernardo Alvarado Rojas explores musical creation with his guitar. With a classical, latin and flamenco guitar background he creates and performs compositions written for solo guitar and ensemble. When performing as a duo Bernardo performs with clarinetist Lucia Sanchez, a Colombian native that specializes in classical and folkloric music from Latin America. When performing as a trio, jazz bassist, Richard McLeish, joins the ensemble, a musician from Vancouver Island with a vast background in the Jazz tradition. Together they explore the combination of their particular musical styles with an upbeat approach.

Incorporea

Released in 2020, this album attempts to venerate our favourite quality of music: its incorporeity.

Life is a Dream

Released in 2018, with this EP Bernardo tries to capture how it feels to be alive in today’s world. Fears and fantasies, and an increasingly faster everyday life propelled by technology have us question the boundaries of reality. We float in an over saturation of images and feelings that give us the sensation that we are all part of a collective dream. The EP was created in his studio located in the basement of an abandoned industrial building on the outskirts of Montreal. Long hours in this studio with no windows available helped contributed to the surreal and dream-like tone of the EP.
